The sector covers four main categories: white goods (like air conditioners, washing machines, refrigerators), brown goods (televisions, music systems), consumer electronics (smartphones, laptops), and small appliances (mixers, hairdryers, toasters). Among these, white goods lead with the biggest market share, showing how essential these products have become in modern households.


The industry’s growth is driven by several positive trends. Rising incomes, growing urbanization, better electrification in rural areas, and easy financing options are encouraging people to buy more durable goods. Interestingly, rural India is now becoming a new growth frontier—rural demand for consumer durables is expanding at nearly twice the rate of urban markets. This shift shows how improved infrastructure and higher rural incomes are transforming the way people live across smaller towns and villages.
